Without ruffling a feather, British Art Director & Designer Nosca Inc’s masterful curation beautifully accents the carefully crafted pencil work of Athens-born illustrator, artist and textile designer, Christina K. Swapping the mudflats of Africa for the ink pools of east London, Nosca Inc gently bathes the famously ‘pink’ flamingos in a tarn of pastel hues and soft grey undertones.

With the Flamingos proudly striking a variety of poses, this luxury wallpaper is far from static. Its alluring pattern begs the viewer to look more closely, drawing distinctions between Nosca Inc’s dotted halftone background and Christina K’s illustrated foreground.

Christina K’s illustration celebrates the elegant curvature of the bird. Creating a repetitive focal point, the colony’s sensual entanglement of black-tipped bills are countered by dispersions of colour – including peach, baby blue and of course, pink.

Originally elevated from low brow to popular by Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg in the 1960s, the fashionable Flamingo is given even further praise through Nosca Inc’s non-conforming vision to decorate the plumage using abstract expressionism and blotted pigmentation, over traditional shading and colour blends.
